When you upload a document into Edvance, it enters the governance document intake flow and may require a review or confirmation step before it affects readiness metrics. This is intentional — Edvance does not automatically mark anything as compliant or approved based on an upload alone.
Common reasons and what to do
Document needs review
Documents uploaded without a clear category appear in the Governance Documents review queue. Go to Governance Documents (or follow the 'documents to review' link from School Profile) and set the correct category. Once classified, the document can count towards your readiness gaps.
Policy document not linked
If you upload a policy document but the system cannot confidently match it to an existing policy, it stays in the intake library. Open the document in Governance Documents and manually link it to the correct policy — or upload directly from the policy's Evidence tab so it links automatically.
Finance document vs finance data
Uploading a finance PDF (such as annual accounts or a budget) adds governance evidence but does not replace the need to import transaction data for finance readiness. To update finance readiness, import your CSV transactions and complete the mapping review on the Finance page.
Document still being analysed
After upload, Edvance analyses the document before the full governance workflow becomes available. This typically takes a minute or two. If the document still shows as pending after several minutes, try refreshing the page.
Still stuck?
Look for 'What this is based on' or 'Suggested next steps' panels near the relevant workflows — these explain how each uploaded document can be used and what you need to do next.
